Our client is the UK’s leading supplier of products and furniture for hire to various sectors across the world. They are an award-winning design and production studio, producing exciting sculptural builds and installations for a variety of occasions including TV. They create unmatched, themed immersive environments for parties, events, retail and commercial. This is an opportunity to be part of something where every day is different.

They have an extensive range of production facilities on site including CNC machines, 3-D scanning & milling as well as a design & print studio.

Based at their Head Offices in Wetherby, North Yorkshire, this is an amazing opportunity for a talented designer to join a unique design department. The role is fast-paced, challenging and rewarding, with no two days ever being the same.

Product Designer

Ideal Candidate;

This role requires a diverse product designer as the role is a hybrid of realising ideas, as well as supporting the production teams throughout the build process.

You will love to create beautiful visuals that can sometimes be very technically detailed or sometime just quick sketches. Once you learn how they create and build products within the existing design team, you will apply your product design knowledge to help push concept ideas forwards with unique concept visuals.

Concept Designer

Core responsibilities;

Working under the Senior Product Designer, you will work with the Project / Sales Account Managers to develop and finalise initial production briefs, producing viable, effective designs and production build strategies.

The concepts you create will be built in their own manufacturing site so you will need to have a good all round technical knowledge on how your designs will be made. Your designs will also be costed throughout the development so you must be able to incorporate budgets for each project.

During the production process, you will liaise with the in-house fabrication departments as required and provide effective insight and explanation of the design elements / expected outcomes, including specific production methods and CAD files.

Product Designer

Required Skills:

This role is highly creative and requires a product designer with a great eye for detail. You will be working for many themed environments where products are very visual and sometimes very flamboyant so you will need strong research abilities.

You will also require a good eye for detail and have an exciting portfolio that demonstrates a real diverse range of styles. As a lot of work comes from event clients, everything is very fast paced so you must be able to work quickly and well under pressure.

You will be required to work with various software packages so you can pick the most efficient route in terms of time - sometimes a quick scaled sketch (the ability to draw well and communicate your ideas with effective graphic design is vital) or sometimes you will be required to develop a fully fledged product in 3D with the required drawings and CAM files.

Previous Product Design capabilities is essential (experience in prop or furniture design is highly advantageous). Core skills include:

• Proficiency with Solidworks, MS Office Suite, Adobe Suite and Sketchup.

• Adobe Creative suite with a focus on Illustrator and Photoshop.

• Preparing ideas for production in their on-site factory.

• Presentation skills at all stages of the design process.

• Be able to provide support to the production team in the form of 2D vectors for CAM and 3D CAD files.

• Strong knowledge of the design process, including colour and materials, furniture systems, FF&E, and specifications.
