My Client is an international manufacture renowned for their brands world-wide. Based in Hull, they are looking for a talented packaging technologist to join the Global Packaging Team on a contract basis for 6 – 12 months.
Role
The Packaging Department is the focus for packaging development, artwork, component specification, product specification and regulatory control of packaging components, and the manufacturing packaging operation, resulting in products being brought to market to the required presentation and to the required profit expectations. Reporting to the Packaging Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the generation and development and specification of all secondary and tertiary packaging components, and the generation and control of all artwork, for Hull Site and Regional Outsourced products to optimise product delivery to the customer.
The role of the Packaging Technologist requires close liaison with Marketing, Innovation, Technical, Production, Engineering, Purchasing, Production Planning, Regulatory Affairs personnel and external suppliers and Customers at all levels and on a frequent day-to-day basis.
The role will also cover other areas / projects within the Packaging / Line Extension Team as required.
Responsibilities
• The generation, control and approval of artworks for products from original brief through to print, covering minor changes to major product group/GBU roll-out programs for legislative or commercial reasons • The initiation of, and control as Change Leader and/or proposer, of Change controls and associated documentation • Close liaison with Outsourced suppliers and Hull Site personnel to ensure to ensure best performance of packaging and to minimise waste and overall cost • Authorship of Packaging and Labelling Specifications for all products within the Manufacturing strategy remit, and control within planned timing parameters, so that products are packaged, palletised and coded correctly • Design, control and approval of all shipper case and other distribution labels generated at external suppliers, ensuring they meet regulatory standards • To maintain high standards of health & Safety in the workplace in accordance with the Company’s Health and Safety Policy, Quality System and commitment to loss control • Packaging Technologist will deputise for the Packaging Technology Leader / Packaging Manager as required • Packaging Technologist will manage and prioritise their time in an effective fashion Key Challenges
• To maintain and prioritise packaging-related processes, balancing throughput within change initiatives. • To adopt a continuous improvement approach to the packaging process, rapidly responding to new developments in technology and changes within the Division.

• Of Degree calibre. Preferred diploma member of the Institute of Packaging. • 5 years relevant packaging experience. • Knowledge of Artwork design / print processes • Change control skills
